Who edits and under which rules
Pay Brief is an independent editorial desk that publishes notes on how household surveys, census supplements and related instruments count platform work and online side income. It is not a personalized advice outlet and not a placement service.
How topics are chosen
The agenda prioritizes public documents with an explicit method: statistical agency supplements, papers that use survey or administrative data, and measurement guidelines from international organizations. Pieces that frame outcomes, that rest only on anecdote, or that cannot be verified against a named source are set aside.
A topic enters the desk when it supplies a measurable definition (what counts as platform-mediated income, which unit is observed, which period is covered) and when that definition can be contrasted with at least one documented methodological limit.
How sources are cited
Notes name authors, institutions and, when available, the title of the report or article. Figures are attributed in the same paragraph where they appear. When sources disagree, the disagreement is recorded instead of selecting a single “winning” number.
Statistics are not invented. If a datum is absent from the cited source, it is not published. Paraphrase does not replace attribution.
What this desk does not do

How we advertise
When Pay Brief runs ads, creative copy does not claim or imply knowledge of the personal situation of anyone who sees the ad. Formulations that presuppose labor condition, income level, marital status, health or other individual circumstances are not used.
The landing page matches the ad: if the creative discusses measurement of platform work or side income, the destination is a note or institutional page on that subject, not a different offer. Testimonials and outcome promises are not used in advertising.
Corrections
Factual or attribution errors are corrected on the page when feasible, with a brief dated note. Correction requests are received at [email protected]. Messages should identify the URL, the passage and the source that supports the adjustment.
Commercial disclosure
Pay Brief may, in the future, offer paid editorial products. While there is no checkout on the site, no active sales relationship exists. Any material commercial link will be declared on the relevant page. The refund policy remains published with a 30-day window for when it applies.
